The third offering in the Human Alliance series. Skids is infinately supierior to Sideswipe and, IMO on a par with Bumblebee.
Skids comes with both Arcee and Megan fox.
Lets start with Ms Fox.
Somehow this little figure manages to look more lifelike then the actress.
Wearing a white suit number with pink top.
The figure has articulation in the shoulders, chest, hips and knees. The head is suppossed to turn but the hair molding prevents it to a great degree.
My only real complaint about this little figure is the pipe sticking out of her back to allow her to peg into the seats.
Next up is Arcee or Red Chromia if you prefer (lord will Hasbro ever get it right with the bike sisters).
She is a red motorcycle.
Quite a nice little figure actually. Size wise she's somewhere between a legend and scout class.
Any of the H.A. figures can ride her , as modelled by Shia here.
Now in the instructions and every single review I've seen acree is supposed to be transformed thusly.
Which just looks awful I'm sure you'l agree.
However with a little fiddling i discovered this .
The wheel is now nicely stored along the back and the whole figure is much more stable. Articulation is fairly basic with ball joint shoulder and a hinge elbow on the non gun arm .
As to the question of which sister she is. well buggered if I know. The bike mode is Arcee ,the bot mode is chromia and the head belongs to neither. Like a said a nice enough lil figure which i wouldnt drop cash on by itself but as a freebie it aint bad
Sooooooooo Ladies and gentlemen we move on to the main event. Skids himself. He's friggin awesome !!! Lets start with his vehicle mode. Its a green and black Chevy Beat. (Is Skids the beat? I can never keep that straight ).
You can see whosherface sitting in there happily. The paint apps missing from the DX are present here Most noticeable the black running bars on the sides. Hasbro went the extra mile here and even painted in the gold stripes along the backs of the headlights. The windows are tinted blue and the headlights have a blue not found anywhere else on the toy.
Heres a size comparison with sideswipe (I was too lazy to transform Bumblebee )
Hes smaller but thats ok. He's supposed to be.
Transformation is like the complete opposite of the Dx in terms of where everything folds out of but some really nice touchs to make everything look the same.
Ok yes the doors are on his shoulders but trust me you dont notice them as they sort of blend into the back pack.
The result is a very screen accurate robot and once everything is locked into place you get a very layered look to the armour which i think is just great.
As you can see the chest is much more screen accurate with lots of sculpted detailing.
A whole load of new colour is intrucduced in this mode in silvers and greys on the arms ,hands and legs.
When i wrote my H.A. Bumlebee review i took marks off him for not having his seats collapse fully. Skids rectifies this mistake as his seats collapse and rotate to form his arm guards.
Articulation wise he has roatating and in out movement on the shoulders. Hinge and swivel on the elbows, possability in the fingers of the oversized arm and wrist articulation on the regular arm. Slight waist articulation, fully functional hips , double jointed knees with a swivel . Pivoting feet for wide legged poses. The head is on a ball joint and has an additional joint for moving the head up and down.
Skids is nicely in scale with HA bb.
The figure has the usual ha hard points for the mini figures.
The cannon arm has a seat and flip up handles
He also has an over the head mini gun
So I love this figure. He just oozes quirky charm. I can find very little to fault him for. 5/5
