Transformers Prime Bulkhead
The return of the Autobot wreckin' machine. This time he comes as a heavy duty offroad vehicle and a nice metallic paint job from Takara.
VEHICLE MODE
As I mentioned before, Transformers Prime Bulkhead comes in the form of a heavy duty offroad vehicle. It looks tough and a good fit for the wrecker character. He is as tough in vehicle mode as he is in bot mode.
The vehicle is well designed. This is the one thing that has been improved on since some of the disasterous Energon alt modes. Every part of the bot mode isn't too obvious with the exception of his wrecking mace. In which case, if Breakdown was to be a similar size, i hope his spare tyre he has becomes his hammer.
His seams are ok, not too many of them and they're not scattered unlike in some previous design styles.
Also, paint applications are where they should be. Tail lights, spot lights, roof rack are all nicely detailed here but my only paint gripe is, like the Robots in Disguise issue of Bumblebee, the rims on his wheels are not painted. It's not much of a gripe I know, but being the son of a mechanic it's something I would notice. Anyhoo, moving along.
ROBOT MODE
Similar to his scheme in Transformers Animated, Bulkhead is rocking a mostly green affair. Being the first edition, it's not a regular green but a deeper metallic. He dies have spots of silver, the grille at his torso and of course on his face and his feet. Also the tail lights from his shoulders add something different to the mix.
There are 2 ways to display his chest. There is this way, which brings out the spotlights.
Or this way, which is the prescibed way to have it because the torso can be locked into place a little better. Same goes for the back wheel kibble. The prescribed way is not so bad.
Or alternatively can be pushed around to his back to relieve the 'love handles'. It does however add depth to his back and if you're space conscious with your shelf, it might not be the way to go.
Arm joints are decent and freeflowing, a 90 degree at the eblow, a twist at the bicep and a full 360 movement of the shoulders.
Hips are dead solid. At first I thought they were balljoints but upon closer inspection they are ratchet joints. Knees are double jointed and theres no movement for the ankles.
For those wondering how to atach his wrecking mace, this is how.
Some various poses that I was able to get Bulkhead to do
And finally, a height comparison between Bulkhead and the NYCC Arcee and Bumblebee.

VEHICLE MODE
Chunky and a joy to loo at, no paint apps on the wheel rims is a bit annoying but only a small loss to the look. A bit of mud thrown over him and sealed to the deco would also have been a super neat thing to do. You guys want to go do it, youre welcome.
4.5/4
ROBOT MODE
Looks exactly as you would have seen him on the show and there is also a little to play around with in his looks if you wish to alter them slightly. Wrecking made can't be stowed tidily which is slightly disappointing but overall, a good representation.
