So, what is it?
My favourites are StarCraft(PC), Shadow Dancer(Megaderive), the Super Star Wars games(SNES) and Transformers Armada(PS2).
StarCraft is probably the coolest game I've ever played in terms of gameplay and story. It's just a class act.
And the Transformers Armada game is brilliantly put together, with alot of homages to the G1 show/movie and it's extremely rewarding.

I don't play computer games all that often and when I do I can only manage a few minutes at a time really. So it probably comes as no surprise that my favourite games are fast no-brainer ones: Unreal Tournament (PC) & MarioKart (any platform)

This is Easy. It's gotta be War of the monsters on the PS2. A killer beat em up with monsters en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_MonstersBrilliant game that is fun in Single or Two player mode. It's the reason I've kept my Ps2. The plot is set in the 1950's where a fleet of alien flying saucer warships invade the Earth, causing massive damage. The scientists of the world manage to create a series of secret weapons, which, when activated, let loose shockwaves that short-circuit the saucers and cause them to crash. Unfortunately, each flying saucer is fueled by a green radioactive liquid, which leaks out from destroyed crafts. Through this and follow up effects, the fuel creates giant monsters as a result. The player acts as one of these monsters and battles against the rest in fictional cities across the globe and the remaining UFOs.

Oh man, I'd do anything for a War Of The Monsters sequel on the 360. With online play.
Current fave is between Rock Band 2 and Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead is ridiculously simple, but sooo addictive.

I would second that Youri. How I had hoped the Transformer game would have used a similar game engine upon it's release. Alas it was not to be,
