PCC Heavy Tread.
Time for another review. This time i'm going with PCC Heavy Tread.
This is likely one of the last PCC toys to get released over here, the line is on clearance in toymaster as I speak, with a commander and 5 drones going for €12.99.
At that price these are a steal. I'm going to pick up a few more when i get a chance.
PCC has got a bad reputation amongst a lot of fans mainly as the first set of five packs (Combaticons and Aerialbots) didn't work too well.
The individual commanders and minicons released have been pretty good scout class toys, bar the odd one or two and Heavy Tread is no exception.
Heavy Tread is packaged in robot mode along with his minicon. The minicon is not particularly good however, the legs on mine have a tendancy to pop off and the only mode of his that really works is the battering ram which clips on Heavy Tread in tank mode.
In tank mode Heavy Tread looks really nice, the only small problem is the connector ports on the back but tanks often have junk on the back in real life so it isn't as badly noticable as the ports on some other figures from earlier waves.
Tank mode is slightly futuristic looking which i like a lot.
In robot mode he's short,as you'd expect with a scout and he's got short legs with his upper body being quite bulky. It makes him look like a bit of a bruiser, the sort of bot who'd slap his enemies around the place rather than use guns.
I personally think he bears a resemblance to Guzzle from last stand of the wreckers with the cannon sticking up on his back and his squat but tough looking body. That makes me like him a lot and i'll probably throw him in with my classics on display.
Anyway, forget the minicon and this guys a really good scout figure, well worth your time if you can find him at retail price.
