"He just didn't want to spoil our fun"
Unfortunately, fun would not be at the forefront of some fans minds as they had to, in some cases pay over the odds for this release. So lets get started into Reveal The Shiled Windcharger.
-ROBOT-
Windcharger has had very little love since the G1 and Hasbro saw fit to give this little guy a bit of a make over, following in the footsteps of fellow mini bots Bumblebee, Cliffjumper (Classic), Powerglide(Universe 2.0, Dark Of The Moon Cyberverse Commander), Huffer(Botcon 2007), Warpath(Generations), Brawn and Seaspray(Hunt For The Decepticons). He retains his colour scheme of red body parts, grey limbs and a darker grey for the head with black on the shins.
Wincharger's make over consists of the front of his vehicle being his chest. If you prefer an older, more G1 look you can keep the hood over his head.
His head is also a big part of the make over as much as his updated appearance. It is a bit closer to that of his original cartoon look.
Unlike scout classes of lines gone by, the Revenge of The Fallen line started a trend of outstanding scout class figures such as Breakdown(the most un-movie style figure before Seaspray) and the amazing Skystalker. Leading from these, Windcharger is every bit as poseable as any larger size figure and possibly a bit more dexterous than some of the larger releases. Balljoints are the name of the game for his hips, ankles, shoulders and elbows. He is super well balanced as you can see below.
Here's a nice touch, Windcharger comes armed with rotating magnetic repulsors weapons, one for each hand.
-VEHICLE-
The vehicle mode has also recieved a loving tune up. Windcharger is a predominantly red muscle car with grey bumpers and a black grille with a black back window canopy and a fairly lazy rear. His vehicle bears some similarities to the modern Charger or Chevelle.
As I mentioned, the only real gripe I have with this mode is that lazy tail cluster. A basic brake light cluster wouldv'e been nice instead of just a big black bar across the back of the vehicle.
On the plus side, despite that the vehicle is definitely recognizably Windcharger.
-SCORE-
ROBOT - 10/10 - Amazing for a scout class. The fact that he has a full set of joints would be enough but he also has in built weapons is the icing on the cake.
VEHICLE - 9/10 - Apart from that eyesore black app at the back of the vehicle, its a great vehicle update for Windcharger.
OVERALL - 9/10
