Alright guys decided to do a triple barreled review of my three most recent purchases, TFP Knock out, ratchet and eradicon(which I lucked out on getting, the scalpers are here, I smell them).
The review will be without pictures due to most have seen them in some capacity and I'm a bit lazy to stick pics up right now.
Let's start with KO, and well to describe all TFP figures the first thing you notice is how small all concerned TFP alt modes are and KO is noticeably small. I have noticed hasbro has made the box look bigger and it can deceive the eye we're getting a big figure due to how the box is etc.
Vehicle mode: KO is a sports car, noticeable paint apps that are NOT included from the back packaging are gold door handles, electricity blue coming from his shock staff and gold rims. These paint apps are not there, which kind of annoys me given the figure is already small enough without taking more from it. His alt mode looks cool bar the ghastly ports for his weapon, KO himself wouldn't approve of having his beauty tarnished by such. Paint otherwise in alt mode looks cool and he rolls well enough.
Robot mode: KO's instructions are a disaster, they make you transform the figure into a gangly armed weird chested figure, thankfully other reviewers have shown how he is meant to be transformed . He looks pretty slick when transformed correctly with his staff and all. What is noticeable about KO when you stand him among the con ranks is his colour, he's a nice shade of maroon and red that makes him stand out and really pop when standing beside his dark coloured brethren. For a character I LOVE on the show he's gotten a decent figure, it could be better but he is next to SS as my favourite con both in show and toy form.
Ratchet vehicle: Ratchet transforms into an all terrain ambulance, mainly white and red, this is another figure lacking serious paint apps, his light bar is painted on which is cool but what is not is he is missing his heart beat sign which is very noticeable, the way he transforms may make it difficult to do such hence it's exclusion but looking at the japanese version they manage to get it on.
Robot mode: ratchets transformation is pretty cool how it's done to end up with the bot we do I must say I was impressed by him and how well he went together and looked. At first I was thinking that people overreacted about his bot mode paint at first look as I thought he looked great, these complaints came to frutition when I stuck him among the rest of the cast, he looks sort of bland, he's missing apps on his legs, his forearm and his ears. His head is on a spring loaded gimmick like animated ratchet, something I'm not a fan of really. The thing that impressed me most about him was his light piping, it is great, I had seen previous pictures that had his eyes looking like triangles for want of a better word but in person they look fine.`Ratchet also comes with two knives made of bendy plastic too- not a fan of bendy plastic, maybe someone can get onto making some sturdier weapons in the future.
Eradicon vehicle mode: Out of all three figures this guys vehicle mode comes out on tops, who's expecting much from the stormtrooper of transformers? Well me for one as I had heard rave reviews and utter lunacy in america to find this guy and to come across just one I snatched him straight away due to his rep, this guy is regarded as the lionel messi of tfp, or the boba fett of tfp, unexpected fan favourite and regarded as brilliant, this guy had a lot of weight to live up to.
He does just that.
The eradicon comes as a vehicle similar to the bat mobile, it's all black bar some purple accents(really nice) and a purple con emblem on his grill( how I love right coloured faction symbols). I have seen some guys customise him into a batman that looks cool but with the epidemic of bees versus the low amount of vaccinations of eradicon my thoughts are that such customisers are pouring petrol onto already burning out of control flames. (Naughty).
Robot mode: while transforming him, which is an unbelievably genius task, yes I regarded whoever designed this guy as a genius,we get the cylonesque tf stormtrooper. He looks slick, colours remain unchanged primarily black and purple with a now silver head. He comes with a single gun (two would have been nice) that can be equipped in various ways. Putting him on the con side of the shelf his pose ability and his look certainly separate him from megs and soundwave, he looks bad ass and can pull some wicked poses. He does come with a draw back which is his head can't do much really.
Finally we have gotten the 3rd wave of TFP, Hot Shot looks nice too and will be a future purchase but I am quite satisfied with the figures.
I would like to give a huge shout out to Forbidden Planet being the first to get wave 3 , they got it in plentiful supply in fairness and the guys there are helpful(majorly so in me winning my eradicon). So props.
