REVIEW- MOVIE LEADER CLASS BRAWL by Jason
I finally got to open up the leader class sized Brawl ( never mind that Devastator typo in the movie) the other day. I've had him since last November and just kept forgetten bout him under piles of other samples, plus other stuff got in the way.....but I digress. As I soon found out he is a pretty cool figure.
The toy is highly detailed and looks exactly like its on screen appearance. As with all the movie toys, it features "Automorph technology", this been you press Brawl's head into his chest and it moves his sweeper barrier to the front in tank mode. Pressing the head also activates the gun and cannon shooting sounds as well as lights on the main tank barrel and his side guns on top of the turret. Two versions of Brawl were released, one with green flashing lights ,the other with orange flashing lights.
The figure has multiple points of articulation, head, shoulder, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. Like leader class Prime and Megatron he does not move at the waist. Brawl has a couple of hidden action features, most notably weapons! His left arm has a gattling gun that flips out.
Pressing this gun forward makes two wrist blades flip out .
Blades also flip down from his shins in both legs.
The right arm contains a 4 barreled cannon that extends out from it's housing when sliding forward the switch on top .
Transformation is fairly straightforward, and not the same as the deluxe version.
The tank mode is pretty tight once all parts are locked together, and the main turret can move 360 degrees and the top gun can move independent of the main turrent.
This is the Leader class toy so he is a lot bigger than his deluxe class version . He was later released as a repaint in the Allspark power line as Deep Desert Brawl in a light tan desert camo colour.
He is also in scale to Deluxe Jazz, Bumblebee, Voyager Ratchet, and Ironhide so re-creating the final street battle scene could keep you entertained for a while. I would have prefered the likes of Starscream and Blackout to be scaled up to leader class but we may have to wait for the sequel toys to see if we get our dream choices from Hasbro
