Just watched Back To Earth (the new 3-parter) on YouTube... nowhere near as good as the classic eps but on par with the last two series'. This show's really only had two or three series that have been brilliant, with smatterings of goodness throughout the others.
Still, very pleased to see things addressed and tied up a bit. It's sort of a nice reunion/finish to the show, taking everything back to the basics of the guys travelling through the empty universe again...

While it was good to see the boys back on the screen, there was something lacking overall, but still enjoyable watching the 3 parts in one sitting, i still graved more-just like the point /story of the special! I remember that the proposed movie was always just about to get started on a few occasions when some funding or other ran out, at a con a few years back in Bermingham, they revealed that they were about to depart for Oz to begin filming when the plug was pulled. The movie script that was being used was to feature the Silicants from the series, coinciding with the boys finding a way home, and trying to protect/outrace the Simulants from destroying the earth/potential new timeline. Some of that may have beeb considered for the special but they prob hold it bavk incase they finally get the big screen green light. I could prefer a few more specials one or twice ayear like with Dr.Who and Futurama rather than see anothe series get canned.
Plus in the special they refer to series 9 i think, this wasnt made?!
Whenever LOCKDOWN is not on screen or in comic panel all the other characters should be saying "Where is LOCKDOWN?" or "I wonder what LOCKDOWN is up to?" or "LOCKDOWN would know what to do" or something that references LOCKDOWN.
Thats right series nine doesnt exist. An interview with one of the creators of the show said he was trying to get a series 10 green lit (with 9 being skipped on purpose). I quite liked the 3 parter but as ye have said it was a bit lacking....needed holly methinks.
Watched it last night and found it to be ok, it just seemed to lack some of that old Red Dwarf goodness but was still enjoyable. It would be nice to see another full season of film be done.

I think they should have had the guys (and Kochanski) find a new Earth and start repopulating it, then do a Next Generation series with Lister and Kochanski's children lost in space. The actors were really looking old at times in this.
