FLCL (or Furi Kuri as it's sometimes known) is one of the best anime's out there. It's a coming-of-age sci-fi comedy thing about a kid who grows a robot out of his forehead.
The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya is awesome too. It's about a club at a school that's made to stop a teenage girl - who happens to possibly be a God - from getting bored and destroying the world.

recommended, as a halfling of anime, evangelion 1.11 and evangelion 2.0. i went to glasgow last month to see evangelion 2.0 and it was too awsome to put into words. its all about teens piloting giant robots to save humanity, peppered with angst and daddy/wider parent issues which are very much at the core of each character. theres also a mortal kombat reference!
much recommended, i'll be there for the 2 evangelion movies, anyone else going?
