Apologies to those who I promised to show this guy to, but here we go with a review of Revenge of The Fallen scout class Scattorshot.
ROTF Scattorshot is a rework of the Cybertron scout of the same name and bears some similarities in his basic appearance. The colours, while basically the same, are not as vivid as his Cybertron namesake which is in keeping with the Bayverse "realism".
Despite the vehicle mode, the robot mode is dominated by grey. It really would have been nice if it had been a silver in places such as the snow plough and the piping surrounding the head. The yellow also suffers this too. I feel it is a little boring. The face, while roughly the same colour, is lifted by it being painted instead of molded. The chest bears some resemblance to Optimus Prime with what looks like a split front for the chest even though the robot torso is at the rear of the vehicle.
The face is in keeping with the ROTF/Bayverse design. Is it just me or does he look like an owl? He carries 2 machine guns mounted on either arm. They can be rotated 360 degrees with a roughly 90 degree pitch adjustment.
Joints in pictures, elbows are double jointed, more for the transformation.
Shoulders
Hips and knees
Thing is, the guns on the arms are a bit of a pain because they limit the range of the elbows a little unless you do not want the guns to be 'held'.
Knees and hips are as to be expected from ball joints, they can give a good range. Thankfully the plough does not hinder this.
On to the vehicle mode.
The vehicle colours share a little more with Cybertron Scattorshot with blue being the dominant colour. The mode is that of a snow plough pickup truck fitted with automatic weapons. The vehicle choice may differ but share similarities in the case of the twin guns resembling the cannons on the Cybertron figure. The muted gold like colour also on the side is a nice touch and bringing the scheme a bit closer to the Cybertron original.
The guns can be moved as in the robot mode. It's better in this mode and the guns are unrestricted by elbows etc.
You get nice Autobot logos on either side of the truck, pity these do not help the disguise. I thought these would be hidden dammit! Robot mode logos are fine but something obvious like this is just stupid. I feel this way for all of them when it serves no purpose in vehicles when the idea of the vehicle is to remain hidden.
Gaps at the back, tut tut.
Underside, and no underhang, which seems to be a plague lately.
I'll finish off with this, despite the above griping and nitpicking, Scattorshot is a nice figure, despite the many flaws. It is a reasonable homage to the Cybertron figure and there are more than enough differences to be a figure of it's own, much like Lockdown. The colours maybe be bland but they are functional for this figure. Vehicle mode is pretty decent. The snow plough is a cool addition and the new rotating cannons are a treat. It is well designed with no real visible parts in the vehicle mode but it is a pity there is a huge gap at the back of the cab. Overall, a decent effort with a few points that let it down slightly.
