HUNT FOR THE DECEPTICONS SEASPRAY
VOYAGER CLASS
PRICE: 24.99
This is a return and rework of a G1 character. I am glad Hasbro returned to G1 in a round about way. This is, by no means, a supersize such as Universe Powerglide. Although, I will concede that this possibly should have been a deluxe.
Personally, Hasbro tried a little too hard to remind us of the name of this character after removing him from the box.
Now, we move on past the name gripe. The colours are remeniscent of the G1 character. White chest and feet, yellow/brownish turbines, forearms, part of the hips, around the visor and the lower legs, blue thighs with a silver curved stripe and a blue stripe on the head. Nice colours that work to a rather pleasing degree.
Joints are mostly ratchet and swivel joints.
The usual motions for the hips
A nice 90 degree joint on the neck, far more solid than a balljoint
Pretty standard fare for the knees. There is a swivel joint under the knee for transforming the legs in under the body.
Same for the shoulders and double jointed elbows which are so for the transformation.
Nice touch this one, if you lay the plate at the calves back flat to the foot and flip out the flippers, you can have ankles
A little extra that adds extra beyond aesthetics
Overall, the poses are great. It has a solid range of poses and is overall stable. I am impressed.
Harpoon guns are Seaspray's weapons, they can be mounted on his arms or held as regular guns.
Kibble on the back isn't a huge problem as far as I am concerned, especially if you put the turbines down on the back instead of over the shoulder.
No new colours in vehicle mode
Nice use of the name on the side, again with the name reminders though
The back is the only place where any robot parts are visible, unless you have a scout class figure on the rear tray. That lets it down slightly. I guess I'll be getting Breacher to hide 'Spray's head.
This figure meets many of the remake/makeover criteria. He has the general look fo the G1 character while also being quite fresh. I'm glad they keep up the idea of combining smaller and larger vehicle modes like Mindwipe and Skystalker/Sunspot. Like also that his weapons are harpoons.
Very little irks me about this figure, although the constant reminder of his name does annoy me a little.
ROBOT : 10/10 Can't fault the robot mode, there is very little it can't do
VEHICLE : 5/10 Kinda bland and ordinary for me since one of the colours goes mostly missing
OVERALL 8/10
