"We don't let them leave the base........"
Unlike the group we were hoping for in the build up to the movie, the Wreckers are a group of engineers. Luckily they could also kick a little tailpipe along the way. First up, from wave is Roadbuster.
-ROBOT-
Roadbuster is somewhat drab looking as a robot. He is predominantly grey, unpainted plastic that runs almost from head to toe. It is broken up by the colours of the can parts that make up his chest, his shoulder pods and his head.
"]
His head reminds me of a pit crewman at a motor race event, goggles/glasses and a hat. It does suit to a degree. The shade of his goggles/visor/shades are a slightly darker green. Blue might have been better just for contrast.
Naturally, Roadbuster comes armed. He has a blaster that can be mounted to either arm or can be stowed on his back.
The mechtech feature of his weapon opens out into a chainsaw. Shame it won't stay in that form.
Balljoints for the hips
Standard fare joints for knees and ankles.
Balljoints at the shoulders, a twist on the bicep and the usual elbow joint.
Another huge sticking point for this figure is the amount of vehicle kibble. Was there no way to reduce that for this size figure? Just ask stable mate Top Spin where it wasnt a problem.
-VEHICLE-
However, the colour palette is raised a bit when Roadbuster is in his racing form. All that grey disappears and becomes a somewhat pleasing racing green affair. His hood is also emblazoned with the Amp Energy logo along with a hige white outline of a Chevrolet logo.
He has white racing stripes on either side of the body and runs for the length of the vehicle. He also gets the brightly coloured 88 number on both sides and on the roof.
Mechtech weapons can also be mounted on cleverly hidden peg holes in the roof and on the doors so the potential for further armaments is for you to decide.
-SCORE-
ROBOT - 6/10 - Not a whole lot wrong to be fair but there is so little to recommend him. There is too much unpainted plastic on him. The roof kibble at the back is horrendous. Also, compared to Top Spin, for a Wrecker he is not very well armed so you might be looking for other Mehctech weapons to attach or to redistribute some of Top Spin's arsenal.
VEHICLE - 8/10 - The vehicle, however is spot on to how Roadbuster would look without any weapons on him. He han be very heavily armed as a vehicle is one so chooses. I like the idea of the peg holes disappearing on the roof and doors so that the overall look dies not suffer from having empty plugs.
OVERALL - 6/10
