I'm going to put on My Name is Bruce in a moment starring the amazing Bruce Campbell. Last I watched was Tropic Thunder. I opened up a thread with a fake trailer thats in it. Possibly one of the funniest movies ever made.

I live 3 mins away from the local Googleplex, and have 1 of them unlimited cards,so i tend to go to the flix at least twice a week. Heres the past few weeks worth.
Latest was Franklyn- avoid!!! was looing forward to it,had a Dark City/12 monkeys vibe to it from the Trailer, but it was all over the place! the production value and designs in Meanwhile city ,the imaginary section of the movie, is fantastic, but there are too many dangling and unresolved/unrelated plot threads danglin by the end. A lot of pople walked out thru out it.
GranTarino- didnt know anything about it walking in,but left luving it. Clint is the text book grumpy old man-think Victor Meldrew meets Dirty Harry! From the moment it starts,he is angry.,racist and contakorous. Some great performances from the supporting cast and some graet scenes-highly reconmended.
Slumdog millionaire- Didnt see the attraction, didnt do anything for me,was alrite but dont think it deserve all the awards it getting.
Benjamin Button- actually enjoyed this alot. You know the story by now, Effects and acting are brilliant as Aul Brad goes from innocent childlike old man to youngster with years of wisdom and memories. Would have been interesting to see what Tim Burton would have made of this, but Fincher keeps it earthed in a reality that could easily be our own, some funny and genuine touching moments. great twist seeing how it plays out, even though the presence of death is there thruout and you know his exact age and how long he has left.
The Wrestler- Brilliant, Think a hardcore version of The Champ. It seems similr to Jake "The Snake" Roberts story from the Documantry "Beyond the Mat", but Rourke centers it as you see the pain and exhiliration that these guys go thru professionaly and personally in the name of entertainment and for the luv of the buisness. And Marisa Tomei as a SEXY ass stripper is a must see!!
Punisher :war zone- had low expectations for this but was pleasantly surprised. Its not perfect ,story is a bit naff for a punisher tale, but other than that it has the best hardcore action scenes i have seen on screen in a long time, and Ray Stevenson IS the Punisher. One scene in particular is text book Frank Castle via the Garth Ennis comics. Jigsaw is badass but his brother is even worse, and Jigsaw dosent come off as a bad rip off of 2 face and joker. Enjoyable.
Friday the 13TH- been waiting and anticipating this one! my fave horror icon gets the reboot treatment. Knew it was gonna be based on parts 1-4 going into it. The first half is great and text book Fri 13th movie, but it kinda loses points towards the end. Should have dealt more with the mother story .Dosent mean that i didnt enjoy it, just i could have seen how it could have been better, or the kills be more inventive. The reenergised Jason is not supernatural(no pun intended) yet s it refreshing to see him as the pissed off calculating psycho protecting his patch , and no,he is not the one who grew the Hash crop and is protecting it, Its the guy from the sawmill barn that grew it. Voorheess is using it as bait. Plus some of the hottest girls in a horror movie in a long time. But hey, roll on the sequel!!
My Bloody Valentine 3D- A good unashamed throwback to 80's horror, unlike all that s**te we got post -Scream. The 3D effect are predictable, anything pointy or can be used as wepaon will be pointed onthrowing at the scren to great effect and screams from the audience. The gore and make up, and theres plenty of it,killer rips out harts with a pick axe, look like super HD with the glasses. Agian better than i was expecting, and staring another of the Winchester brothers!
Im off to see The Unborn later , let you know how that turns out.
Watched Death Note the other nite, not a bad asian flick. The Demon God of Death ,Ryuk, that appears to our "Hero" looks like cross between Animated series Joker and the Creeper from Batman!!just add wings, Sequel is on Film 4 next week.
Anyone who hasnt seen it yet, check out Taken,i dont know what extra on the directors cut as i saw it in cinema, but Neeson proves that you dont f**k with an Irish Daddy!

Saw Taken and Dead Mens Shoes over the weekend. Taken is brilliant. As Jason put it, "Liam Neeson just head butts Paris and then kicks it's ass!". Brilliant.
Dead Mens Shoes is very good. Very grim. Extremely depressing. But very good.

Exactly! Filthy, dirty research...*takes hands out of pockets* As long as it is for research, then yes, for artistic resons, without dragging the forum down a moral sewer ( who,m me of all people??!), she does indeed go "Method" for the role, right down to the nipple piercings!! Calm down Dan!

I have to say, I got Tropic Thunder out and I wasn't all that impressed. There were definitely some great moments but on the whole I thought it was a pretty standard Ben Stiller flick. That said, I think Tom Cruises cameo is the funniest thing I've seen in years! How Downey Jr got an oscar nod and he got ignored is beyond me...

My Name is Bruce, so goddamn awful it's good.
Downey jr. got ignored because we all knew Heath Ledger would win best supporting at the oscars.
Yes, Tom Cruise was excellent in Tropis Thunder, especially the way he uses his face when he tells the key grip to punch Coogan. Did you recognise him immedciately or did you notice after?
Next movie: Watchmen

I think I watched the whole movie and didn't realise it was him til reading a review afterwards. I thought it was David Cross or something at first, just in a lot of make-up.

I enjoyed Tropic THunder....except for all the Tom Cruise parts...i was cringing watching them, he is just to fake for me, in everything, including life!...apart from that,Downey was fantastic, " I dont break character until the DVD commentary!", we all know who he is aping, and the whole thing is apiss take of the Hollywood studio system.
Last few good comedies i seen were Role Models, Dewey Cox:walk Hard, and Stepbrothers, but Sexdrive was the one I was constantly pissing myself laffing at in the cinema.
Looking forward,to getting My Name Is Bruce, but might rent it first!
The Unborn was resonable enuff. Im desensifised to horror since early age( thanks Cath!) but can predict what gonna happen, but still enjoy going to see audiance reactions, Goyer knows he is not been original with the premise of exorcism, but he has few scares up his sleeves to keep it above the norm, also it was made as PG-13, so cant rag on it too much.
